When I first picked up this book, I thought great another long boring book to read for another class. But actually when I started the beginning it was not too bad, I didn't find it too difficult for me to follow. I actual was able to understand a great portion of his words. As well as a lot of the band/groups. Thanks to my husband who loves a variety of music and has introduced me to several of the names mentioned by Chuck.
As we continued into the second portion I didn't find this at all easy to follow. It was so boring to me I coudn't explain much about it. The flow was too confusing, jumping from one person to another. His words were totally uncontroled. It's like Chuck would just babble what he felt no matter what or who it was about, and the place didn't matter either.
Finally, the end. It didn't end the way I thought. I was disappointed that Chuck and Quincy never were a couple. They seem to connect in the sense of listening and knowing what the other person was feeling.
One strength throughout his book to me was how knowledgable he is about the rock star/band. Meaning he knew about the groups he was researching. To us this might have been confusing because how he jumps but Chuck enjoying his music as much as he does got him so excitied at points in the book that maybe he tried to writing faster than he was thinking. Some of the weeknesses to me are when he jumps from one person/place to another. It was hard to follow or understand simply because I knew some of the names he was following up with but I only knew them because of my husband. Over all there were sections that kept me reading and sections when I just wanted to put it down. I am not a big reader but I imagine that many books have a small section of the book that would be somewhat boring but you just have to continue to the end. You just might be surprised.
